Overview

Waterfowl Weather ("we", "the app") provides real-time weather, radar, river-gauge, and predictive hunt-scoring information for waterfowl hunters. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and the third parties who process it.

Data We Collect

  • Email address, used to create and sign in to your account.

  • User ID, an internal identifier that links your saved data to your account.

  • Precise location, requested only when you choose to use your current position for local weather, radar, and river gauges. You can deny this permission and the app remains fully usable with a default location.

  • Saved locations, the names and coordinates of hunting spots you choose to save for quick access.

  • Search history, location search text is logged to improve results (admin-only, not shared).

  • Scoring preferences, scoring weights and river-gauge favorites you create, linked to your account.

How We Use Your Data

  • To display local weather, radar, and river conditions for your selected area.

  • To save your preferred locations and scoring settings.

  • To compute and refine hunt-quality predictions.

  • To improve search results and forecast accuracy.

Third-Party Data Processors

The app retrieves weather and map data from the following providers. Only the data described above (typically coordinates) is sent to them:

  • Base44, authentication, database, and app hosting.

  • Open-Meteo, weather forecasts and grid data.

  • Iowa State University Mesonet, NEXRAD radar tiles.

  • OpenStreetMap, base map tiles (© OpenStreetMap contributors).

  • National Weather Service (NWS), forecasts and alerts (public domain).

  • U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), river gauge readings (public domain).

  • BigDataCloud, reverse geocoding of coordinates to place names.

Tracking & Advertising

The app does not track you across other apps or websites, does not share data for advertising, and contains no advertising SDKs. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is required.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your saved data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Your Choices

  • Location permission can be granted per-use, always, or denied in your device settings; the app works without it.

  • You can delete saved locations and your entire account at any time from within the app.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
